Connecting AI Assistants to the GIDEON API Specification
Our full API library is published on Postman, and Postman’s MCP server makes it readable by any MCP-compatible assistant, such as Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or VS Code.
You can connect your AI assistant to GIDEON and explore our API capabilities even if you don't have access to the API yet. Our full API library is published on Postman, and Postman’s MCP server makes it readable by any MCP-compatible assistant, such as Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or VS Code.
It takes about five minutes:
- Create a free Postman account at postman.com if you don’t have one.
- In your AI assistant, add a new MCP server or custom connector with this address: https://mcp.postman.com/minimal
- Sign in with your Postman account when prompted. No API key is needed for this step.
- Ask your assistant: “Use Postman to find the public GIDEON API specification and summarize the schema for the main requests.”
Your assistant will find the GIDEON API 1.0 collection on the Postman API Network. It will set out the endpoints, parameters and response structure for each module: diseases, drugs, vaccines, microbiology, outbreaks and country data. From there, you can ask it how to build a specific query, or how it would connect GIDEON to your LLM.
This shows your team exactly what the API delivers and how it is structured. Our library contains lots of examples of what the data will look like, and in most cases this is sufficient in lieu of a trial. The human-readable version of the documentation is here: https://api-doc.gideononline.com/
